Kurtis is the Director of Operations and Member Services for the Network for Educator Effectiveness. Kurtis brings important on-the-ground experience to NEE. He is a former history teacher, high school assistant principal, and middle school principal who utilized NEE and witnessed firsthand the powerful influence NEE has on instructional growth. Kurtis has presented at a variety of educational conferences, including the Midwest Teacher Evaluation Symposium.

In 2018, Kurtis published and presented research on Gender Equity in Teacher Evaluation at the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. Kurtis has a Masters in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
