Student surveys are a valuable component of a multiple-measures approach to educator evaluation, providing a more robust picture of educator effectiveness.
Recent studies have shown student surveys provide accurate, reliable insight on teaching because students’ perspectives tend to align with administrators’ perspectives during classroom observations.
The online NEE student survey is available for students in grades 4-12.
Schools have the flexibility to incorporate the student survey as one measure of evaluation, if they choose. The survey can be customized to focus on the specific indicators that schools have chosen as their focus for classroom observations, providing alignment for the entire evaluation process. The survey is confidential and takes about 20 minutes for students to complete.
Teacher surveys for principal performance also are integrated in the online NEE Data Tool, allowing teachers to provide valuable input for principal evaluations. Teacher surveys are confidential.
