What is the NEE Advantage?
The Network for Educator Effectiveness is a comprehensive educator evaluation system designed to grow teachers and improve schools. The NEE system is built on the belief that educator evaluation should be a supportive and meaningful process – one that gives schools the advantage as they work to pursue improvement and excellence. We think of this as the “NEE Advantage.”
What exactly is the NEE Advantage? The NEE Advantage means NEE gives schools the edge in (at least) six important ways:
- The NEE Data Tool: Our custom-built evaluation platform tracks and manages evaluations, saving principals time. Custom reports help principals stay organized and give school leaders the opportunity to see trends to inform improvement efforts.
- NEE Training: Our expertly crafted, in-depth training for school leaders builds confidence in evaluations and helps principals provide better support to teachers. NEE trainers work with school leaders to develop their skills in conducting classroom observations and delivering effective feedback to teachers. Research shows instructional improvement depends in large part on the administrator’s level of expertise in evaluation and feedback. The NEE system supports administrators in developing their expertise through yearly training on classroom observations and feedback. With NEE, administrators develop skills in delivering feedback and coaching so they can help their teachers realize their potential.
- The EdHub Library: Our carefully curated professional learning library connects evaluations with data-informed professional development that empowers growth.Built into the NEE Data Tool, EdHub includes more than 500 modules for self-paced learning that can be used by individuals, small groups, and whole faculty presentations. EdHub includes two comprehensive classroom video libraries meant to enhance understanding of the indicators and expectations for classroom practices represented in the NEE rubrics.
- The NEE Student Survey: Our student survey makes evaluations more robust, takes pressure off classroom observation scores as the sole factor in summative evaluations, and gives a voice to student experiences in the classroom. In addition to the student survey and classroom observations, other measures that can be incorporated in teacher evaluation include teacher professional development plans, unit of instruction plans, and components for specialists.
- Real-time support: Our staff walks with you through all stages of implementation, and our help desk is staffed with real people to answer your questions promptly. Each school is assigned a field support representative who is an experienced PK-12 educator. NEE sees your success as our success, and we pride ourselves on providing top-notch customer service to support your implementation. As a university-connected service provider, we are not your typical vendor.
- Ready-built rubrics: Our research-based rubrics develop shared expectations and a common language for effective teaching. The NEE rubrics contain thorough examples of look-fors, clarification pages, and student survey items. Of the 27 rubrics available, each school selects three to five rubrics to incorporate in classroom observation processes to make principals’ scoring more accurate and their feedback to teachers more effective.
When you think about the NEE Advantage, think about an educator evaluation system that is comprehensive, ready-to-use, and designed for growth. Ultimately a successful system of teacher evaluation is one that leads to improved instruction across a school. NEE seeks to do just that through a system of services and supports that gives your school an advantage in providing effective evaluation that leads to improvement and excellence.
