Teacher evaluation is one of the many challenges school leaders are facing in their continued response to COVID-19. How should school leaders evaluate teaching in an uncertain environment, and what does effective teaching look like in remote learning settings?

To answer these questions, the Network for Educator Effectiveness (NEE) is providing recommendations, resources, and templates to help school leaders evaluate effective teaching in remote learning environments.

In Adaptability and Growth: Evaluating Effective Teaching in Remote Learning Environments, NEE provides:

  • Recommendations for evaluating teacher effectiveness in remote learning environments.
  • A list of indicators that highlight best teaching practices in remote settings.
  • The Remote Learning Evidence Log, a customizable Google Form that provides a way for a teacher to document the implementation of effective teaching practices in remote learning environments.
  • The Remote Learning Lesson Planning Template, which provides guidance for both teachers and evaluators on how to develop best-practice lesson plans for remote instruction.
  • The Lesson Model for Effective Remote Learning, which was developed in alignment with the Remote Learning Lesson Planning Template and can be utilized by educators as guidance for planning and constructing remote learning experiences.
  • Recommendations for conducting evaluations in the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Insights into how key components of NEE continue to support the growth of all educators.
